Monogram Reissue of the Aurora Creature From The Black Lagoon Model kit. The detail on this model is just incredible. This creature was maliciously assembled and some what re sculpted especially in the area of his head, leaving almost no visible seam lines. This model was airbrushed and then hand painted from head to toe creating an almost movie quality reptilian look. This model goes way beyond the image depicted on the box. I have had the privilege of having this piece viewed by a local hobby shop owner and his staff who new the crew that worked on restoring the original tv series Enterprise from Star Trek now on display at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. There opinion on this creature build up was that it is nothing less than museum quality. There are a few of these built up for sale out there but I think any one looking for a model of this quality would be hard pressed to find another just like it. The creature stands about 6 inches high and about 7 inches wide on the custom routed wood base which also adds to the uniqueness of this build up. I should also note that this model is completely clear coated to protect the finish and the small tree with the snake is removable for easier shipping. Even the photos do not do this model justice as getting the proper lighting was difficult. When seen up close it is quite extraordinary. Truly one of a kind.
